Companion Dog School is owned and operated by Tamara Conmay and Peg Phillips who have been teaching obedience classes in the greater Findlay area since 1992.

Tamara

Tamara has owned, bred and shown German Shepherd dogs since the '60's. She has had several American and Canadian Champions. One of her dogs received an Award of Merit at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club show in 2004. Through quality breeding of both American and German lines, Tamara has produced dogs for service organizations, police departments and, most importantly, for family companions.

Tamara has been formally training dogs since 1985 and obtained her first AKC obedience title in 1986.

In 1987 Tamara opened PineView Kennels in Hoytville, OH where she provides boarding and grooming services for all breeds of dogs, cats, and small animals. Her knowledge of different breeds is quite extensive due to her years of hands on experience.

Tamara's joy and focus in training has been puppies. Knowing if you can train the "babies" the adult training will be second nature. She also knows if you de-mystify housebreaking, chewing and other puppy issues for owners you help create a forever bond and tranquil co-existence between families and their pets.

Peg

Peg has been formally training dogs since 1979. The dog she owned then was a Doberman/Labrador mix with "issues." Since that time she has owned a Doberman and several German Shepherds with whom she has earned AKC obedience titles.

She began grooming dogs and cats in 1989 and was working as a veterinary assistant as well. She returned to school and earned her license as a veterinary technician in 2001 from Stautzenberger College.

Peg became an evaluator for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen program and has since tested several hundred dogs for the program. She has also worked her way to Chief Tester for the American Temperament Test Society and has had the opportunity to evaluate temperament for many rare-breeds as well as the better known breeds of dogs.

Companion Dog School continues to have an extremely high level of client satisfaction as evidenced by class evaluations, veterinary referrals and client retention over the years. Several students have gone on to formal obedience competition where their dogs have earned numerous titles.

Peg and Tamara attend continuing education courses at Cornell University, Ohio State University, Leader Dog For The Blind, and various training organizations throughout the United States and Canada in order to expand their knowledge and teaching skills.
