Shelby
Shelby Lynn is a 2 year old mix breed. Her proud parents are Jeff Fox and Jerry Martin. Jerry was on a business trip in Memphis. He just got done having dinner with his Uncle and went back to where they were staying. Shelby came running down the sidewalk towards them with a napkin in her mouth. They tried to find where she came from and if she belonged to someone. The people they talked to said that animals were always being left there and that they could call the humane society and they would pick her up.
They decided they didn't want to leave her behind. They took her to a vet and got all the necessary paperwork. Bought her an airline ticket so she could fly back to Ohio and not be left alone in Memphis. On the way to the vet, Jerry was thinking about what to name this special girl. Thought of Memphis but it didn't seem to fit. While sitting in traffic, he noticed that the license plates all said Shelby (county). He decided Shelby sounded much better. They added Lynn for a little Southern spice.
I am a true believer in everything happens for a reason, there are no coincidences in life. Shelby could have run up to anyone on the sidewalk, but she chose Jerry. She found her forever home and is where she is supposed to be, with the BEST family she could ever have.
Shelby became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on July 16, 2007. She usually spends one day a week with us. She brings along her new rescue sister, Ellie May, also a mixed breed. When Shelby arrives for day care, we are never sure if she is going to be "WILD" like Jerry or "QUIET" like Jeff?!? Either way we love Shelby and Ellie and always are happy when they come for a play day.
Shelby doesn't really have any favorite furry friends. She just mingles in with everyone and plays with whoever wants to play with her. In the summer she loves to play in the pool. She likes to hang out with us girls and seems interested in whatever we are doing. We LOVE to give her PLENTY of hugs and kisses.
Jerry and Jeff tell us that Shelby loves going on car rides and walks with her sister Ellie. Their favorite place to go is to Grandma and Grandpa's out in the country to run and play. Like all good Grandmas' do, she spoils them with TOO many biscuits.
Shelby loves to go swimming at Uncle Bill's and Aunt Sue's. She loves running up and down the hills at the reservoir. When she goes home from day care she passes out on the couch and has puppy dreams and runs in her sleep! We LOVE Shelby, she is a sweet girl. Shelby has left her paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why she is our "Dog of the Month" for September.
