Baxter
Baxter is a 9 yr. old Shih Tese, a Shuh Tzu and Maltese mix. His proud parents are Kim and Harrell Duff. Baxter had a ruff start. He was a stray pick up at the Hancock County Humane Society. Kim had stopped in to the Humane Society one day and ask to see him as a prospective adoption. He was terribly emaciated and in bad physical condition.
He had a bad ulcerated eye that needed immediate attention and was told he would probably lose his eye within 48 hrs. The Duff's gave the HCHS money for Baxter's surgery and to foster him. When Baxter first joined the Duff household as a foster child, Harrell nicknamed him "Franken-puppy." As Baxter healed he became very spunky so of course they fell in love with Baxter and couldn't return him. So Baxter became a permanent member of the Duff family and found his forever home.
Kim heard the name Baxter somewhere on TV and liked it and it also fit his personality. They nicknamed him "Slinky" because he was so squirmy and flexible like a slinky toy. So Baxter "Slinky" Duff he became. Baxter became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on January 18, 2007. He comes to day care usually twice a week and brings his brother Bobby, a Shih Tzu, along to join in the fun with all of their furry friends.

BTwo words describe Baxter, he is an "absolute angel." The cutest and sweetest little guy there ever was, a total sweetheart. As you can imagine in day care it gets pretty loud and a little crazy when you have thirty to sixty of your best friends running and playing together. Baxter is so good! He just mingles around and when you talk to him he looks up at you with those BIG brown eyes and smiles. It makes your day!
Baxter loves it when you pick him up and give him hugs and kisses. We all LOVE Baxter to death. He rarely barks and I have never ever had to scold him for anything, not one time. He is a PERFECT gentleman. We are always so happy to see Baxter and Bobby. They are our little buddies. From Baxter's very first visit to day care, he has left his special little paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why he is our "Dog of the Month" for September.
