Rocco

Rocco is a three year old Rottweiler. His proud parents are Rod and Barb Nichols. Barb and her daughter Ally drove thirteen hours to Pellican Lake, Wisconsin to pick up the eleven week old Rottweiler puppy at Ravenwood Kennels. He was a great little traveler on the journey to his new home - he slept 90% of the time. They chose the name Rocco because it is a strong sounding name - like a rock.

Rocco became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on September 27, 2005. Rocco spends mostly afternoons with us, usually two or three times a week. He especially loves his favorite Aunt Tabby. He shares his home with his sister Ivy, who is a black Cocker Spaniel. She also joins Rocco at day care on some days..




Rocco is a real sweetheart. He has a very gentle disposition and is very lovable. He has the sweetest face and we love to lavish him with hugs. He will chase a tennis ball if you kick it across the floor but, for the most part, Rocco and Ivy are inseperable and they just like to hang with all their furry friends. On Rocco's days here, he likes to be the "choir director" and get everyone howlin' for a howlin' good time.

It has been told to us that Rocco is a BIG baby. He will sit on your lap or try to lay on you. He is always eating grass or sod. Barb thinks that Rocco must think he is a cow. Rocco loves the Nichol's grandson's - they crawl all over him. Rocco thinks he can chase things when he is in the car. He LOVES to eat and ALWAYS wants a treat..



Rocco got very sick when he was a little over a year old. He had started to come to day care right before. Rocco was skin and bones at 58 pounds. We were all so concerned about him. It was touch and go for several months. Aunt Cindy called Barb every few days for updates. Prayers were answered and Rocco got stronger, in six months he was back at day care. At present day, he is a healthy 95 pounds and a happy loving dog.

Rocco has come through some adversity in his young life, but he perservered. Like his name, he is strong like a rock. We all love Rocco. He is a very special guy. He has left his paw prints on our hearts and that is why he is our "dog of the month" for September.
