Lucy Lou

Lucy Lou is a two ear old Border Collie mix. Her proud parents are Dave and Sheri Scott. The Scott's daughter, Ashley, got Lucy from her neighbors who didn't have the time to take care of a new puppy. Ashley moved home shortly thereafter and Lucy came along.

Of course, it didn't take long for Dave and Sheri to fall in love with Lucy and when Ashley moved out on her own again, they refused to let her take Lucy along. Lucy got her name from Ashley's roommate who called every dog she saw Lucy and they added Lou for their personal touch. So that's how Lucy Lou found her forever home.

Lucy Lou became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on September 30, 2005. She spends her days with us. We love Lucy, she is a real sweetheart. She has the prettiest eyes, they would melt any heart. Lucy has a personality all her own. She shares her home with OUR favorite day care character, Mr. Personality plus, Shister. They are your typical brother and sister tag team. What one doesn't think of, the other one does. They pick and play and do things to try and get each other in trouble.

Lucy Lou has many furry friends. She likes to play with Joey. She hangs with Poppy and Sammy. Her main squeeze is Savior. When Lucy and Savior are together, you can almost see little hearts floating in the air .. aww. Obviously, she loves the tall, dark, and handsome type. She loves to play with Katie if Shister says it's OK because Katie IS Shister's friend first. Lucy is not much for the pool. She also likes to spend her time by herself sunning and day dreaming ... about Savior of course.

It has been told to us that Lucy Lou aka Wiggle butt loves to come to day care. Every morning, Lucy sits at the back door as patiently as she can waiting to leave. Sheri grabs her lead and puts it on her and her whole back end and tail are going out of control. Shister on the other hand is pokey and takes his time which isn't fast enough for Lucy. So Lucy grabs her lead in her mouth, gets behind Shister and noses him in the side or his rear to get him going. That's what sisters are for!!

Lucy is not without her mischievious side here at day care. If you happen to notice a dogs collar missing or even a dogs sweater ... go find Lucy. Nine times out of ten when you find Lucy, you will find the collar or sweater too.

One day I was changing sheets on the furniture. I made the mistake of laying the dirty sheet on the floor while I put the clean one on. Had my back turned for 2 seconds. Turned around and there goes Lucy, sheet in her mouth, running out the back door. Sheet flying in the breeze behind her. So I had to chase Lucy down to get it from her. All the while, she wiggles her butt and smiles at me and it's all a game to Lucy and another fun filled day at day care.

Lucy Lou is definitely a farm girl at heart. When we put new straw out, she has to be right there to help or thinks she's helping, but mostly getting in the way. She will dig at the bale of straw and run off with a big chunk of the bale. If you scald her, she wiggles and smiles. Lucy is having fun and that's what it's all about.

As you can see in Lucy's pictures -- she agrees that even at day care you have to take the time to smell the flowers. Lucy has left her paw prints on our hearts and adds her own special charm to each and every day here at day care and that is why she is our "dog of the month" for October.
