Mayzie
Mayzie is a two year old yellow Labrador retriever. Her proud parents are Catherine and Dennis Keppers. The Keppers got Mayzie when she was eight weeks old from a breeder in Celina, OH who breeds English Labs. Mayzie has attended puppy kindergarten. She gets her name from a Dr. Seuss character. The Keppers saw Seussical the Musical and their daughter, Julie, really liked the Mayzie character. They say their Mayzie resembles the character in one way – she’s lazy.
Mayzie became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on December 29, 2005. She spends mostly half days with us. What can you say about Miss Mayzie … three words come to mind: fun, loving and sweet. She reminds me of a young girl that still has her baby fat, she’s very huggable. Mayzie is an absolute angel with fur. She is the epitome of sweetness. She is just a great dog, one of those exceptional dogs that for most part rarely has to be scolded.

Mayzie loves to play with the tennis balls. She loves to play and wrestle with her furry friends. Her love interest is Buddy. Her favorite playmates are Oliver, Al, Ian, and Sage. Her favorite place to hang out is the “Cabana House” and she likes to take siesta’s there in the afternoon. Her body quite literally does hang out but none the less she doesn’t seem to mind.
It has been reported that Mayzie has a passion, she LOVES to eat. She’s a total chow hound! She once ate a one pound bag of chocolate chips – which gave her a belly ache. Even so they think she would do it again if they let her.

Mayzie is also quite talented. It seems she knows how to open the door and walk the kids to the bus stop. She can turn on the water in the bath tub and get a drink, but has to hurry to drink because she can only turn on the hot water. She has just learned a new trick – which is when Catherine pulls into the day care parking lot, she puts her paw on the power window switch which puts the window down, and then she sticks her head out the window and barks.
We all love Mayzie and Mayzie is OUR passion. She has left her paw prints on our hearts and that’s why she is our “Dog of the Month” for May.
