Frank
Frank is a 9 year old Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix. His proud parent is Karen Hans. As the story goes, the Han's were searching for the "perfect" family dog and Karen had been periodically stopping at the Humane Society. One day she stopped there and fate stepped in. As soon as she saw Frank she fell in love. When he saw her, he jumped up on the side of the kennel, wagged his tail, and gave her a very BIG smile. She loved his outgoing personality.
Frank wasn't available for adoption until Monday and Karen would be out of town until Thursday and she was so afraid someone else would adopt him. As luck would have it, the puppy was still there on Thursday when she went back. And what was meant to be, the Han's adopted the seven month old Corgi mix and gave Frank his forever home.
Karen's husband chose Frank's name -- he named him after his father, much to Karen's dismay. She thought it was disrespectful, but her husband insisted and the kids liked it so Frank it was. Over the years the Han's have used many variations - Franklin, Frankfort, Francis, Frank Frank, and Frank the Tank. He also has been referred to as "Woof Woof" and Sir Bark-a-Lot. Myself, I'm partial to Frankfurter. No matter, I'm sure Frank doesn't care what you call him as long as you don't call him late for supper.
Frank became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on October 12, 2005. Frank is a very sweet boy and we are always happy to see him. He brings his brother, Hunter, a German Shorthaired Pointer to day care with him to join in the fun. I would describe Frank and Hunter's appearance and personalities like the old comedy team "Laurel and Hardy." Frank being kinda bossy like Oliver Hardy and Hunter being wimpy and whiney in a funny way like Stan Laurel. Just like Laurel & Hardy, Frank & Hunter are perfect together.

Frank and Hunter spend one or two days a week with us. They are frequent overnighters at Aunt Cindy's house when Karen has to be out of town. Frank is very friendly but doesn't pay much. He joins in the fun by watching two or three of his furry friends play and follows them around barking at them. He likes to just walk around mingling and loves to take naps in the sunshine on warm days.
An interesting story as told to us about Frank is that he is actually a "hero" of sorts. He saved the Han's house from burning and probably saved Karen's son and stepson's life, when he alerted her husband to a fire that had started. Karen was away for the evening and her husband was outside in the detached garage when he heard Frank barking hysterically. He went inside the house to investigate and found the coffee table in flames and the fire about to reach the carpet. Thanks to Frank, her husband was able to put out the fire before any serious damage occurred. GOOD BOY FRANK!!
Frank is a "hero" of sorts to us too. A hero in the sense that he always "saves the day" and makes it a brighter and happier day simply by just being here with all of his friends that love him. Frank has left his paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why he is our "Dog of the Month" for July. Frank says "everybody have a SAFE and HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!"
