Lincoln
Lincoln is a 3 year old Russell Terrier. His proud parents are Tanya and Bryan Golding. A close friend of theirs told them that she had gone to see some JRT puppies in town and so of course they HAD to go see them. Tanya & Bryan went to see the puppies with the intent to wait until spring to adopt one. A certain little guy must have tugged on Bryan’s heart strings because he couldn’t wait.
Bryan showed up at Tanya’s house to pick her up to go to dinner and there was this little nine week old puppy sitting on his lap when she got into his truck. Surprise! Say ‘Hello to our new best friend.’ :) Now came the all important decision on the perfect name for their new little guy. Tanya and Bryan couldn’t agree on a name for the first 24 hours. Tanya finally asked Bryan what his favorite cities were but nothing seemed to fit. How about his favorite cars? One of those was a Lincoln MKZ – VOILA! Lincoln it is!! Pawfect.
Lincoln became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on August 13, 2007. Lincoln usually comes to visit us two times a week. Lincoln does this funny little thing when he arrives at day care. Seems like he only does it with me and only when Bryan brings him in. I open the gate and Lincoln walks through and then just sits down and looks at me?? Not sure what it means, but you have to see it to appreciate it. :) We affectionately call Lincoln – Linky-Link-Link – and then he gets ALL excited.

Lincoln doesn’t have any best friends; he just likes hanging out with ALL his friends. Lincoln has a lot of energy and he can jump up REALLY high like he has springs in his feet. He loves to bark and run and chase his other furry friends out the back door. We try not to pick favorites but over the years we have had other JRT as guests and Lincoln has always been our favorite. He is the sweetest little boy and even though he can be feisty sometimes, he listens very well. He’s just a REALLY GOOD dog.
True to his breed, Tanya and Bryan say that Lincoln is a squirrel hunter. He actually jumped into the tree in their front yard chasing after one (see photo). Lincoln is also a horse herder. He goes to the farm with mom and does a good job of running behind the horses, biting at their ankles whether they are being ridden or are turned out in the pasture. Lincoln LOVES to sleep all warm and cozy under the covers between mom and dad. They bought a new king size bed to make room for everyone.

Lincoln is also a BIG attention hog. He loves to be the center of attention and doesn’t even like his mom and dad talking unless he is being petted or is dead asleep. That is probably why Lincoln loves to come to day care because he gets LOTS of attention with plenty of hugs and kisses. We love you Lincoln and you have left your little paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why you are the ‘Dog of the Month’ for January.
Lincoln says – Baby it’s cold out there – so just a reminder mom and dad’s, don’t leave us outside too long, our little noses and paws get REALLY cold. Arf! Arf!
