Buddy
Buddy is a 2 year old Shepherd and Lab mix. His proud parent is Russel Rankin. Buddy's life started in New Riegel. Russel adopted him when he was a puppy and a little boy named him Buddy. Buddy became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on August 2, 2006. He usually spends three days a week with us. We love Buddy, he is a real charmer.
Buddy knows day care as "going to school". It's a school day for Buddy. On the days that Buddy is at "school", he is usually the first "student" here in the morning. He gets lonely waiting for his furry friends to start arriving.. so he starts howling his "poor Buddy" howl. It's quite amusing. I always tell him "it's OK, Buddy, your friends will be here soon."

Buddy is a real "ladies man," so to speak. You know the old saying about sailors, they have a girl at every port - that would be Buddy. All his best friends are girls. Mayze is his #1 gal. He loves Dharma and Annie-doodle, they like it rough. Buddy's dad says he loves to play rough, the rougher the better sometimes. He likes to play with the tennis balls, usually one on one with another friend. Later in the morning, it is time for a lunch break. Buddy sits up for his food.
Buddy is MY little helper. I've talked to Russel and also the other girls here and it seems that I am the only one he helps with the laundry. When I put laundry in the washer, Buddy stands and puts his paws on the washer and stays there until I'm done. Then I always say "we're done, Buddy" and he gets down. I wish I could figure out a way to get him to put the laundry in the washer and fold the towels then we would be all set.

Buddy has a new baby brother at home. A little kitten named Fuzzy. They are pretty inseperable and love to play together and pick and tease, unless it is a school day and then it is a different story. Buddy wants to go home and relax after school and the kitten wants to play. Poor Fuzzy doesn't understand why HIS Buddy is tired and doesn't want to play.
We all love Buddy, especially all the girls here. He's our little furry "Don Juan". So it's easy to see why Buddy has captured our hearts and left his paw prints there forever. That's why he is our "Dog of the Month" for January.
