Sammy
Sammy is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd and Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) mix. His proud owners are sister and brother, Kery and Kory Knox. As the story goes, Kery had wanted a dog for a long time. A friend of her mom whose son worked at the Lima Humane Society called her mom and told her there was a puppy for adoption. So, they adopted the puppy and it was decided he would be a Christmas present for Kery and Kory for their mom and dad.
So for 2 weeks before Christmas with the help of Aunt Cindy (which is Kery and Kory's REAL Aunt Cindy), the little puppy was kept secret. They hid him out at Day Care and Aunt Cindy's home. So, Christmas Day finally arrived and Kery and Kory were given the puppy that they wanted for so long and the puppy got what he wanted, a home and a family that loved him.
They decided to name their Christmas puppy Sammy because they had watched the movie Bruce Almighty on Christmas Eve and he looked like the dog Sam in the movie. So, the puppy became our Sammy and the rest is history.
Sammy became a guest at the Day Care and a part of OUR family on December 10, 2004. He spends every day with us. Sam is a real sweetheart, they don't come any sweeter. He gets long well with all of his furry friends. His favorite girl friends to play with are Poppy and Lucy Lu. His favorite gal is Maggie. His best bud is Shister. They seem to think they are the leaders of the pack. It has been reported that during their drive to Day Care every morning, as soon as they turn onto Bigelow Avenue, Sammy starts whining and squeaking. If they say, "Where's Shister?" Sammy goes crazy.
Sammy is one of our angels with fur. He loves to get hugs and loves to give kisses. He likes to smile. He is very smart. He shakes a paw and will give you a high five. He loves to play with tennis balls and will play 24/7. Things can get a little chaotic in day care, but in the midst of it all there will stand Sammy pointing at a ball with his head wanting you to play.
It has been reported that Sammy also has an adventurous side. Let your mind envision this. A couple times the gate has been accidentally left open in Kery and Kory's back yard. So both times Sammy has trotted three streets over to their dad's house, opened the door, and walked in. That pretty much sums up Sammy's personality. Sammy has definitely walked into our hearts and has left his paw prints and being the sweetheart that he is, we think it is only appropriate that he be our Valentine and our Dog of the Month for February.
