Cash

Cash is a 5 yr. old Great Dane. His proud parents are Jon and Ashley Davis. They got Cash from a breeder, Shady Creek Great Danes in Kentucky. They drove from Savannah, GA to Kentucky to get Cash. Jon and Ashley say Jackie, the breeder, was so great. The Davis’s say that it seemed like forever waiting for him to be born and then waiting another eight plus weeks before they could pick him up but Cash was well worth the wait! Ashley had heard the name Cash before and liked it, but they weren’t sure that’s what they wanted to name their new puppy. So Jon and Ashley both came up with a list of names they liked. So through a process of elimination, Cash was the name left after all others were crossed off. So ‘Cash’ it was and shall be.

Cash became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on June 25, 2008. Cash usually comes to visit us at least two or three times a week. He brings a long her sister, Zoe, who is also a Great Dane. The best way to describe Cash’s entrance to day care is like the old saying ‘comes in like a Lion and out like a Lamb.’ Cash enters with a ROAR and we get him down to a grumble and then we open the door and he ROARS some more. Zoe just follows with a bark. Then we get Cash on the floor with his fellow furry friends. He goes out with a whimper in about ten seconds! You can’t help laughing at this BIG guy. What a BIG good!!

Cash and Zoe spend their time at day care just mingling and lounging and barking. Cash sometimes finds a friend to pick and play with while Zoe is close by watching. When Cash wants a drink of water, he goes in the laundry room and waits by the sink for one of us to notice him and go turn the water on. He gets a longgg drink and off he goes. No problem Cash, your wish is our command! In the summer, you will find Cash and Zoe lounging pool side in the sunshine. Ashley says he LOVES to swim. To see him in the water is a hoot. He learned to swim at the neighbor’s pool when they lived in Georgia. The funniest part is that he learned to sit on the bottom in the shallow end and tread water with his front paws. He sits patiently waiting for you to throw his ball! It is a sight.

Ashley says Cash is hilarious – NOT quite the regal Dane they pictured! Believe it or not, he is the BIGGEST scaredy cat and is afraid of garbage bags to the vacuum cleaner. Cash LOVES tennis balls. He will carry one around for as long as possible. He loves playing fetch and gets tired these days after four or five throws. Whenever they get home, Cash is usually so excited to see them that he has to get a toy and parade it around making this cute snorting sound. Awwh Cash. Cash really is a gentle GIANT. He loves to lay by the fire in the winter and loves to sit down next to you on the couch.

Cash’s favorite foods are the treats at day care and strawberry cup cakes. He has a HUGE sweet tooth!! He is usually really good at refraining from “counter surfing” but he can’t resist sweet confections. Ashley has come home many times to half-eaten pans of seven layer bars and cakes. Bad boy, Cash! Cash is a hoot, a good, and the sweetest BIG guy all rolled into one. He doesn’t have to do anything – he just makes you smile. We love you Cash. We love to give him BIG hugs and kisses. Cash has left his BIG paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why he is our “Dog of the Month” for December. We know you were a GOOD boy this year Cash, so Santa Paws will bring you lots of goodies.

Cash woofs “Everyone a Merry Christmas and ALL a good night!!”
