Lucy
Lucy is a two year old German Shepherd. Her proud parent is Jonna Brendle. Lucy is a rescue dog and had a really sad beginning. She was born in Kentucky and was rescued from an abusive and neglected environment. She was tied to a tree on a three foot chain with no dog house. Lucy was so thin when the humane society rescued her that the owners were given the choice of surrendering the dog or going to jail. A rescue center in Northern Ohio stepped in and she went to a foster parent. Jonna found Lucy on Petfinder.com and Lucy was her Christmas present. She has been a joy ever since.

Lucy became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on January 11, 2006. She usually spends two days a week with us. Lucy brings her baby sister, Dream, a white German Shepherd, with her to play at day care. We love both of them very much. A few words come to mind when describing Lucy ... beautiful, sweet, a little shy sometimes, and well behaved.
Lucy loves to play and mingle with all her furry friends. Lucy and her sister Dream are pretty inseperable. When they do take a break from each other, Lucy's best girlfriend is Poppy. Her other favorite friends are Sammy and Joey. She has a kinda love-hate relationship with Joey. They love to pick at each other in a loving way. Her favorite thing to do is chase tennis balls. She loves people too. When she takes breaks from playing, she will lay at your feet or follow you around. She's just a real sweet girl.

Jonna says that Lucy is really tuned in to her moods. If Jonna is happy, then Lucy is happy. If Jonna is sad then Lucy is sad. Lucy follows her and is very focused on her. I am sure Lucy is grateful for having a mom that loves her so much and such a good home after living such a hard life to start with. It has been reported that Lucy likes to chase squirrels and bunnies and catch ground moles. When she catches her prize, she brings it to her mom with tail wagging and a smile as if to say "Look what I got Mom!" Lucy loves to be outside and howls at any kind of siren she hears. She loves to take walks and riding in the car.

Lucy is very bright and loves a challenge. She loves to play hide and seek with her toys. There is one thing though that Lucy does HATE ... the dreaded MAIL MAN! One thing for sure, Lucy is a joy to all of us and has left her paw prints on our hearts forever. I find it ironic that we chose Lucy for our December baby a long time ago, not knowing that she had been Jonna's Christmas present in 2005. Thanks to Jonna for saving Lucy, we are all blessed to have Lucy in our lives and it seems even more appropriate now that she is our Dog of the Month for December. God Bless You Lucy and Merry Christmas.
