Miss Ivy

Miss Ivy is a 9 year old English Cocker Spaniel. Her proud parents are Rod and Barb Nichols. Ivy's story begins when her and her baby sister were found by a farmer in a drainage ditch. They were estimated to be about one month old. Barb got them right before Thanksgiving/Christmas season. The Nichols named them Holly and Ivy. They were up for adoption and still living with the Nichols when a friend of Barbs decided to take Holly. The Nichols decided to keep Ivy and looking back, Barb wishes she could have kept Holly too.

Ivy became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on September 26, 2005. Ivy usually spends some afternoons with us. She brings along her big brother, Rocco, a Rottweiler to join in the fun. They are very close. Usually wherever Rocco is, Ivy is right there putting her furry little paws on Rocco so you will give her some affection too. It is really sweet how Rocco doesn't mind sharing affection with his sis.

Ivy is pawsitively one of the sweetest dogs ever. Very loving and gentle. She likes mingling with all her furry friends but loves to just hang out with Rocco. She doesn't play with anyone special but when Roc decides to play with a friend, Ivy likes to stand and bark at them. That is her way of getting in on the action. I think she makes a great cheerleader.

At home, Ivy loves to the "Queen" and does boss her big brother, Rocco, around. She loves to snuggle on the couch and lays down in the crack of Barb's knees every night. When Ivy rides in the car, she always sits in the front seat, which is only befitting for a Queen. Ivy loves the grand babies. Every time they come for a visit, she doesn't settle down until she has given both of them kisses. Good Girl Ivy!

Barb tells us that Ivy is a "hunter" at heart. She has caught three squirrels and lots of moles. She takes her "prize" to the back door and waits for her "praise" which Barb does. The difficult part is getting her to drop it! She loves to chase balls with Rocco and go for walks every day. In the winter, she loves to bury herself in the snow and come in the house with snow balls hanging off her fur.

The Nichols love Ivy very much and are so glad she picked them to live with. We feel the same way about Ivy too and are so glad when she chooses to come to day care and spend time with us. Ivy is a very special little girl and she has left her paw prints on our hearts forever and that is why she is our "Dog of the Month" for August. We love you pretty girl!
