Joey
Joey is a 3 yr. old Beagle. His proud parents are Dana and Adrian De La Cruz. Joey's life had an uncertain and unstable beginning. He was originally at the Auglaize County Humane Society and had been brought there as a stray. The De La Cruz's had just bought a house with the perfect back yard for a dog. Dana's friend told her about a friend of a friend that had a Beagle that needed a home.
Several emails were exchanged and it was decided that this poor dog needed a loving home and some stability in his life. Over a three week time period, Joey had lived in four different homes. So for this lucky little guy who had a ruff start, he got a grrrreat re-start in a loving and forever home.
Joey became a guest at day care and part of OUR family on July 5, 2006. He spends three days a week with us and we always look forward to spending time with Joey. He plays well with all his furry friends. His favorites being Buddy, Maggie and Sammy. Joey is a member of the "Rock Club", in fact he is the President. In case you are not familiar with the "Rock Club", it is a group of furry friends that gather around with one friend having a rock and the rest of the group wanting that ONE PARTICULAR rock.
On Joey's days here the group consists of Shister Meister, Lucy Lu, Poppy, Sammy and of course "The Prez", Joey. When you walk towards the group and pick up "Thee" rock to throw it away, if you even look like you are going to throw "Thee"rock over the fence, Joey goes BALLISTIC. Barkin' and howlin' his typical Beagle way. Then of course everyone else has to join in.
We jokingly and affectionately call Joey our bi-polar friend because it is like he becomes this whole different dog. From a mild mannered sweet Beagle to off the wall howlin' and barkin' and can create total chaos in a matter of seconds. It has to be seen to be appreciated. Then in about five minutes, the "Rock Club" starts again with a NEW rock. Eventually we know the "Rock Club" will someday be no more because all the rocks will be gone. Then I'm sure we will have the "Stick Club" or the "Leaf Club", whatever Joey decides to create. We look forward to that with anticipation.
It has been reported that Joey has many facets to his personality. He is always the first one in bed at night and the last one up in the morning. His nightly routine starts with his ears rubbed by his dad, then under the covers he goes and sleeps in the middle of the bed. Then we have the humidifier being used at night to help Joey's "reverse sneezing" condition and the heat turned down to make it more comfortable for Joey, while everyone else freezes. Nothing is too good for our pets!
We all love Joey and his unique personality and that is why he has left his paw prints on our hearts. We feel it is only appropriate to say "Hey, Charlie Brown we have our own Easter Beagle and his name is Joey" and that is why he is our "Dog of the Month" for April.
